Info
Neuromantics debut single ‘Solaris’ infuses
clever guitar riffs, a pulsating beat, and a smooth, energetic bass line to
showcase a melodic treat of a track from the London-based alternative/indie
rock band.
Frontman Daniel Pye explains: “On a
personal level, Solaris encapsulates notions related to self-doubt, the
challenges and fears of taking risks, and finding your place in the world”.
In the music video, the band wakes up in a
forest - confused, dressed in tattered clothing, and without any idea of where they
are. They then branch off into this ambiguous maze and experience vignettes as they
encounter characters on the way. The events that befall these characters
represents trials, hardships and negatively charged emotions we as human beings
may face. For example, loneliness, rejection, frustration, and being
misunderstood. The forest acts as a nightmarish universe, yet when we cut to
the band playing in what is reflected as the real world, some of the objects
affiliated with the forest characters are present, leaving us to question what
the real world is or whether these separate existences are in fact intertwined.
The chorus lyrics ‘How do you want to know
if you are good enough for this show’ points to the idea that life itself is a
‘show’ and it really comes down to us as individuals as to how our unique show
is going to be performed – will you be content to stick to safe norms and
routines and deprive yourself of gaining what you truly seek in life, or will
you delve further into the unknown, potentially losing what you’ve got now but
with the added relief that you’ve actually taken a chance on something new.
Daniel adds “Ultimately when writing music
and lyrics I like to leave it open for interpretation and let the listener decide
what it means to them. If they connect with the music and feel something that’s
what matters.”
As the song starts listeners are drawn to
the imitable vocals and poignant main riff. The groove kicks into gear when the
rest of the band enters, complimented by a catchy and uplifting chorus. The
track is rounded out by an intricate, well-constructed, and slick guitar solo.
Produced by Dax Liniere at London’s Puzzle Factory Sound Studio and mastered by
Sean Diggins, ‘Solaris’ is a gripping and compelling first song from the band
who are soon set to release their debut album, ‘Crimes of Passion’.
Band
Bio
Reflecting on their formation and continued
development the band playfully concluded – “the only consistent thing about us
is that we’re not consistent”. Well, accept their passion and love for making
music. Four completely divergent personalities. Four completely varied life sagas.
Four countries of origin – Australia, England, Latvia, and Portugal. Previous
involvement in bands and projects of varying musical styles and influences. Yet
it works. And it works well. It’s precisely these differences and peculiarities that
make for such a collaborative and well-oiled group. After Daniel
(vocals/guitar/keys), Andrew (guitar/keys), Daniel (bass/vocals), and Edgars
(drums) eventually all wound up in London, alternative/indie rock band
Neuromantics materialised shortly after. Their sound captivates listeners with
commanding and deep lyrics, carefully crafted melodic guitar lines, soothing
and spirited bass, and catchy, powerful drum rhythms. They are no strangers to
the live scene, and relish the thrill of a live performance, having played
locally in London at establishments such as The Troubadour, Nambucca, Notting
Hill Arts Club, and Hope and Anchor, among others. The band recorded their
debut album ‘Crimes of Passion’ alongside producer Dax Liniere of Puzzle
Factory Sound Studios, which is set for release in the not too distant future.
