Biography:
Established in Adelaide, Australia during the 2nd summer of 1997, One Step Beyond has a 20 year
history with 4 professional world-wide releases. Recently the band has completed their 4rd fulllength
CD entitled "In The Shadow of the Beast", soon to be unleashed upon the world by Italian
label WormHoleDeath. Prior to this, One Step Beyond released "The Music of Chance", the first
album to feature the drumming of Conny Pettersson (of Earache recording artists Anata, and
Lifeforce/Century Media Records artist Nightrage), mastered by Colin Marston (Gorguts, Krallice,
Dysrhythmia) and released by Metal Scrap records in 2015;. Also previously released were
"Beyond Good And Evil" released internationally by Italian label Club Inferno in 2007; and "Life
Imitates Art", independently released in 2002 to international acclaim, and re-released by
Grindhead Records in 2009. A free EP entitled "Out With the Old" was released in 2010, and is still
available at the Bandcamp link below. Originally founded by bassist/vocalist and drum
programmer"Mad" Matt Spencer with guitarist Jeremy Lammas (both previous members of the
band Sexual Intercorpse), the duo were soon joined by vocalist Justin Wood (member of Hatred
Slave along with Matt). In 2006 the band added second guitarist Matt "Rufus" Davis (Obsidian
Aspect/Gorebottle), but unfortunately played only one show with both guitarists before Jeremy
Lammas' untimely death in July 2006. Matt Davis departed shortly afterwards and was replaced by
Pahl Hodgson (Hatred Slave, Beyond Mortal Dreams, Darklord, Oath Of Damnation + more). Since
supporting Nile in 2010 with guest drummer Ben Zotti, One Step Beyond has further developed in
the studio with original members "Mad" Matt and Justin, with drums by Conny Pettersson from
Sweden, and local Liam Weedall (Obsidian Aspect, Voros, Beyond The Oblivion, Jerichos Bird).
One Step Beyond are intent on further refining their unique brand of extreme metal, and are
continuously looking to increase their exposure worldwide. Be sure not to miss the band Silent
