Originally
formed in late 2017 in Warrington by Peter Wolfe (Vocals and Guitar) and Andy
Wood (Drums), Copperworm reformed a month later when their original bassist
left to live in Columbia
A month later
and their new bass player, Brent Copson joined the band and it was a match made
in rock heaven!
The new band
had very similar influences with such rock icons as Led Zep, Pearl Jam,
Soundgarden, Reef, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, UFO, the Doors and Black Sabbath
to name a few
Listening to
their demo tracks on Soundcloud, the influences are apparent but Copperworm
bring their own alternative rock sound to the stage and the studio
Describing
themselves as an organically evolving rock band, it’s hard to pigeonhole them,
with intelligently dark lyrics that touch on political and emotional topics
that most shy away from
Peter Wolfe’s
vocals have been compared to Lou Reed among others, though Peter’s unique sound
delivers angst ridden gravel with a velvet darkness where needed
Stand out
tracks are ‘Why?’, ‘I Don’t Care’ and their collab where they feature on Bret
Sinclair’s excellent Boston Skies
Other tracks
worthy of note include ‘Falling Down’ about the tragedy of suicide, that has
been described as “all the songs I used to love” by one fan, as well as
“Pulse”, which is Copperworm’s current anti war song
Their debut gig
at the Salty Dog Pub in Northwich Cheshire in August was very well received by
both fans and critics alike
One to keep an
eye (or an ear) on
