What's your name?RumRunners: Will (vocals, guitar), Pete (bass), Jim (drums)

Where are you from?
All three of us hail from England, but live in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Will played some solo stuff, this is his first band, Jim has worked as a sound tech and played drums for The Tracks and Blueswater, Pete has been in loads of bands, but refuses to talk about it.

Tell us about your musical style, influences, ...
We'd like to attract the attentions of fans of Rival Sons, Blackberry Smoke or The Answer and also cite the influence of classic bands such as Led Zeppelin and Lynyrd Skynyrd

What has been your last project?
We are about to release our EP "Embers" on the Infinite Hive label.  It's four songs that we spent a lot of time getting absolutely right and we're really proud of it.

And the next thing you have planned?
Follow that up with more songs to be recorded in the summer, once we've promoted the hell out of "Embers".  We're just hitting our stride.

Upcoming concerts, events ....
Friday March 30th: Stramash, Edinburgh - Sunday April 1st, Bannermans Edinburgh - Saturday April 7th, The Box, Glasgow
Then in May we are delighted to be touring Scotland with "Anchor Lane": Friday May 25th, Church, Dundee - Saturday May 26th, Opium, Edinburgh - Sunday May 27th, Garage, Glasgow.  We need to get down south to England, so promoters, hit us up!

What else?
We're a very flexible band, Pete is a qualified yoga instructor.

  1. What's your name?
    Mr John
  2. Where are you from?
    Edinburgh, Scotland
  3. Tell us how your journey has been from your beginnings until now.
I formed a one-off band with musician friends on my birthday a few years back, we called ourselves "MEOW" and dressed up as comic book characters.  After the show we decided it was so much fun that we would keep going, the drummer runs a studio so we always had somewhere to jam.  As time went on, I ended up managing each band member's other projects and formed a record label for them, called "Infinite Hive".  Various members of bands, or friends chip in to help arrange gigs, do artwork or shoot videos for the artists on the label, it's like a creative hub.
  4. Tell us about your musical style, influences, ...
I try not to stay in one category, but we've released mostly rock music by dudes, just because that's who I started off working with.  As time went by, the record I've put out have been post-rock, skate-punk, folk, blues, hardcore industrial electronica.  It depends who I am working with, I would love to put out some Grime or records created by female artists, I don't like things being one-dimensional.
  5. What has been your last project?
We just released "Unhappy Disgusting World" by anonymous digital artist "Shadrak".  Industrial techno metal produced on a Playstation 2.  I love it, but it'll probably scare a lot of people.  Good.
  6. And the next thing you have planned?
Matthew Mcghie, who plays with "Three Days From Retirement" is releasing his own solo acoustic EP.  It's a nice collection of folky songs in the vein of Neil Young, we never knew how good his voice was until this record popped up, it was a lovely surprise.
  7. Upcoming concerts, events ....
Wow. How long have you got?   Matthew has two shows in one day here in Edinburgh on Saturday 17th March for his new record, RumRunners and Devil's Beeftub are doing a gig for their new records the week after and we also host Post-Rock gigs at various venues in Edinburgh, so we can build that scene.  Go to "InfiniteHive.com" and click "events" - the next six months of my life are in there. More to come.  There's always more.
  8. Links of interest
www.InfiniteHive.com  It's all in there - top banner has links to my Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or you can go to "Bands" to check out each individual band or artist. Please do, they're all amazing.
  9. What else?
I get emails/messages from bands asking about gigs, label support etc. all the time, that's fine, but if they could include more info, links to their music, a biography, more detail about their band, location and history on their Facebook etc.  that would be great.  There was a weird phase in 2016 where I got dozens of requests from Christian Rock bands in the space of a month, I don't know why.  I'm not averse to that sort of thing, I just can't pin down where I was being advertised as a service for that type of music.

  3. Tell us how your journey has been from your beginnings until now. I've been writing songs since 2005 but I'd say I've always loved music & been a creative type. My mum sings, so does my sister and she writes too, my brother is a DJ/producer and plays guitar and my brother in law plays guitar/bass so I grew up around quite a musical family! I was more into writing short stories and poems as a kid but when I started learning the guitar at high school, my love of writing evolved into a love of songwriting and I haven't stopped since. I'm now learning the production side of things so that I can hopefully produce my own music better and one day record/produce other indie artists too :)
  4. Tell us about your musical style, influences, ... Oh too many to name, but I'd say...my songwriting style has been influenced by the likes of Death Cab for Cutie and Queens of the Stone Age. Melancholic is probably my music in a nutshell with a smattering of other genres and musical influences like The Prodigy, Stone Temple Pilots, Depeche Mode, Taking Back Sunday, Green Day and Death Note chucked in there for good measure XD
  5. What has been your last project?  Was working on a new track of mine called 'You + I', influenced a little bit by the QOTSA song 'Make It Wit Chu'. In fact, I was recording lead guitars for it tonight, well DI, I need to re-amp them tomorrow once I'm in the studio and then I should be ready to move onto mix the track soon.
  6. And the next thing you have planned? I'll be in the studio solid for the next few months recording a shed-load of songs for my upcoming debut album release later this year, very excited about it!
  7. Upcoming concerts, events .... I don't do gigs much at the moment but I'm playing a wee charity event in my local area in April, apart from that my main focus is on recording and producing - I'm more of a behind the scenes sort of musician, not so bothered by the limelight haha...in fact I run from it XD
