Driive @driiveband #music #promotion #onlyrockradio

DRIIVE BIO
A band which defies categorization within the wide Indie-Alternative
umbrella, Driive is more than the sum of its parts. Bringing together all sorts
of influences, from the raw direct sound of Hüsker Dü and Sonic Youth to the
nuanced and polished offerings of Radiohead and Stereolab, Driive's eclectic
nature shines through in their somber moments of quiet tranquility which
almost always invariably precede dancey boisterous roaring soundscapes.
Alex Gómez who had played bass and guitar in unknown bands like Asylum
Zulus and Hong Kong Quiche wanted to form a new band and started to look
for musicians in Madrid area around 2010. After several attempts, he had
recruited enough people to start a new band known as The Persistence of
Vision by 2013, including Jose Luis Estrada, who had played the rhythm guitar
in Sophisticated Smile before and former singer-songwriter, Brian Ambite.
During the following years the band suffered some lineup changes until the
adition of Jose Manuel Ruiz Alcantara who had played drums in The Gynger
Lynss, The Purple Elephants and 35 transistores, and the bassist Juan Olivares
in 2015. The new lineup decided to change their name to Driive by then.
Driive recorded the EP Strange is Good at Estudio Brazil in Madrid between
October and December of 2016.

Strange is good , an amalgamation of Post Grunge Alternative Rock sounds
and rythms, was released on February 2017.
Two tracks featured in this record attained significant exposure,
foreshadowing better and brighter things in Driive’s future:
First Timer , got airtime on spanish national public radio music station Radio 3
and Jamie got a coveted finalist spot at Sonidos Mans, a renowned spanish
music contest for emerging bands judged both by audiences and reputable
music industry players.
The band started working on their soon to be first LP whilst touring
throughout Spain. Their new shiny toy was to be named “Hideaway” ,
signifying the creation of a unique place Driive can truly consider their own.
Driive’s first Lp was recorded and mixed at Westline Studios in Madrid from
June to September 2018 with the mastering duties being entrusted upon
Ultramarinos Mastering.
The record was released on November 26th, 2018.
Hideaway ventures into more complex territories and atmospheres while
showcasing a peculiar blend of Indie/Alt Rock, Dance Rock, Post Rock and
Indie Pop. It is a delicate world where emotion and excitement coexist with
introspection and sensitivity.
The themes explored in its songs range from the social and existential to the
romantic, where denouncing issues like sexism and conformism ( Sysiphus ,
Icarus ) or burgeois discontent ( Lift You Up ), and feelings of loneliness and
distrust ( Erase Your Face, Comfort Zone ) or fear of death ( Truth ) live
alongside expressions of exhlilaration at finding that significant likeminded
other ( Strange Is Good ) and finally, a celebration of love, friendship and live
music ( The Show ).
One thing is certain:
If you are passionate , if you care and if despite everything, you enjoy life...
...There is definitely room for you in Driive’s Hideaway.
[Driive is: Brian Ambite (vocals, guitar), Jose Estrada (guitar), Juan Olivares
(bass), Alex Gómez (guitar) y Jose Ruiz (drum).]
